Our conference brings together translators, interpreters, language professionals, researchers, and educators in the field of translation studies to promote international cooperation and to stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian translation experts who continue fostering interlingual communication despite the arduous conditions of Russia’s full-scale invasion. We see our mission in supporting the development of science in Ukraine in the times of greatest trials, and welcome all efforts of the international scientific community to advance our goal.

Nataliia Gach Education Centre “L&D initiatives” (the Centre) collects the data you voluntarily provide (e.g., full name, email address, phone number) when you submit your message on our website. We send these details via email to our designated mailbox so that our staff can respond to your inquiry. We use this data only to communicate with you and handle your request. We do not use it for marketing, profiling or any other purposes. In accordance with Switzerland’s Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we provide the following clear information about this processing.

These data are received by the Centre via email. The email system is secured and accessed only by authorized staff. We do not share your personal data with any outside parties except (if necessary) to our email service provider or as required by law. Your data stays within Switzerland/the EU and any transfer out of Switzerland/EEA is subject to legal safeguards.

Legal Basis for Processing

By ticking the consent checkbox, you explicitly give your consent to the Centre to process the provided personal data. Under the GDPR, processing is lawful only if one of its legal bases applies – in our case, Article 6(1)(a) permits processing with the user’s freely given consent. Consent must be an unambiguous, affirmative act; our checkbox ensures a clear opt-in, as required by law. The revised Swiss FADP aligns with these standards: it requires that consent be freely given, specific and informed to be valid. In practice, this means we have told you exactly what data we collect and why, and you have agreed by checking the box.

Purpose of Processing

In other words, we use your name, email, and phone number to communicate with you and provide the information or service you asked for. This purpose is clearly explained before you consent.
